Over the last 30 years rope access has been increasingly used in industry replacing traditional methods of working at heights.  It’s origins lay in caving and mountaineering techniques and since the working at height legislation introduced in the 80’s, rope access has seen an ever growing number of architects and engineers making it their first choice for any working at height job.

Essentially, rope access is a work positioning system enabling tasks to be safely undertaken by trained and certified operatives.  Previously, many of these tasks were deemed impractical or too expensive by using older methods like cherry-pickers, scissor lifts, scaffolding or mast climbers.

It is this unobtrusive, mobile accessibility that gives rope access an overall cost effective edge for getting skilled people to their job with minimum fuss or intrusion.  Rigorous safety standards laid out by The International Code of Practice now has rope access at the top of the HSE hierarchy for safety at work.
